i feel so incredibly seen 😭 i’ve been slowly chipping away at my camera roll/google photos gallery (with 10+ years of photos). the strategy i’ve been using is to look up the current date in my gallery and go through and delete everything that is no longer relevant. but i may consider trying the slidebox app!
This sounds like a great plan! I’m also due for a good digital declutterring of my Google accounts and photo gallery and was trying to figure out a good approach to tackle it. I started common placing lately and love it! it’s so satisfying to write down those little quotes and fascinating posts I save but don’t know what to do with
you should definitely try the slidebox app for decluttering and organizing your photo gallery, it speeds up the process so much!! and I totally agree, i love commonplacing and going back to read all the quotes and pieces of writing that I copied down <3 thank you so much for reading!
This is so good. Love the plan. Everyone needs a plan for this.
I write weekly posts to help people get more digitally organized and productive - and I will definitely be sharing about this post and Slidebox (which I've never heard of but just started using - it's amazing, thank you!).
This had me cackling, I know the feeling I have 3,664 notes, 100,488 emails, 6,903 screenshots. Definitely saving this for the recommendations and the cat memes lol!! Also treasures from the digital wasteland will be a great series, one declutter at a time. 🫡
I get so much anxiety from these things so I'm usually on top of most of them, like the "want to go", on maps, watchlists, etc. But lately I've been letting my ig saves and Google photos pile up so I'll be following along with my own digital garden! I think weekly updates would be great 💐
this!! digital decluttering is an overlooked task... but satisfying once you manage it!
Sidenote: for anyone who feels their Gmail is overwhelming them, it helped me to look into the additional gmail functions like the labels, filters, templates etc.
I set it up so emails from my volunteering always get labelled and I can find them in a green tag (also made a label to put event/appointments I need to go to).
Also, I realised instead of deleting emails one by one if there's a certain email that spams a lot (linkedin, pinterest etc), go to search options and paste that email in 'from' and mass select and delete emails (hard to describe these actions but there's videos on it!)
Also, you can change the layout of the inbox (mine has starred emails in a tab at the top - labelled 'priority').
And archiving or deleting every so often– a task I often forget...
I'll definitely work on tackling my inbox a little bit. the only steps I've taken towards that is unsubscribing from all the bombardment of companies advertising their products and services to me. but now I'll start using some of the tips you listed. Thank you so much for reading! <3
Thank you for this, Salma! The tips on how to control the digital mess were so helpful; it feels so overwhelming to want to clean it up and not know where to start!
coming to this late but wow. very much top of mind and my goal for the year. started the year with 100+ videos to my watch later on YouTube and now down to 65 (it was just at 50 but it's so easy to hit that save tab). thank you for this!
.......*saves post*

I use the same strategy for my google photos! It's so fun seeing what I was doing today but 1, 2, 5 years ago :')
